Botanical Print and Upcoming Event

Yesterday at the Evanston Art Center's Monday Intaglio workshop, I completed a short series of six small botanical prints. The aromatic Sweetpenny that I picked up in West Virginia flavored the printshop's air. Duffy said my prints were the sweetest he had smelled in a long time.

November 11th & 12th, I will be exhibiting at the 23rd Annual Telfair Art Fair:

Telfair Square
Savannah, GA 31401 United States

The Prairie Prophesies

I've decided to rename my new botanical series. The Apocalyptic Weeds will now be called "The Prairie Prophesies"

Yesterday rocked. At the Thursday workshop I printed the Apocalyptic Weed background in Tri Colors. Prussian Blue, Black and Burnt Sienna. Foreground weeds were Yellow Ochre and a bright orange. Came out good. Second print was kind of muddy, that's when I simplified to a Prussian Blue background and the yellow wheaty color in the foreground. Came out awesome.

Today I worked on a two color scheme. Phalo Green with a little Phalo Blue for the background. Yellow ochre and process magenta for the foreground. Disaster. Turns out the Wrights Copper Cream I used yesterday stripped the aquatints. Had to re-etch the plate. When I got the plate out of the acid I went back to printing, adding prussian blue to the background ink and staying with the ochre and process magenta for the foreground.

Brilliant!
