I took inspiration for the Cowboy print from a vacation my wife and I took to the Jackson Hole area in Wyoming this summer. Cowboy culture is everywhere out there. When I got home I produced this print of a cowboy with leading a herd of horses.

Back in Evanston at the Art Center I scribed the lines of the cowboy through wax on a  5" x 7" copper plate. I etched the lines into the plate with acid. I added light aquatints to create areas of tone in the print. Printed with a Sepia ink on Stonehenge etching paper, the print speaks of sun, dust and a memory from the past...

Riding my bicycle towards downtown Evanston, I looked up and saw a girl balanced on an I-beam. She was a sculpture on one of the new highrises, but she caught my attention. Balanced up there. All grace. So young. Hope she doesn't fall. At the Evanston Art Center I drew a girl, arms out stretched, tip toeing on a rail. In the background was a grain silo. After proofing the print I decided to take out the grain silo. Remnants of the past exist like a memory. With the silo gone I added the lines of the utility poles. Printed with Sepia ink on white paper, the girl gracefully moves towards the horizon.

I was at an art fair and a fella comes into my tent and asks, "Do you have any Elephants?" I was like nope. And out he goes. Then I'm thinking, I should have said, don't have one, but I'll make one, and I'll call you. Next day I'm driving up Ridge Ave and I see this tiny rabbit, walking next to the curb, like he fell off of the cliff and is trying to make back up to the grass. So then I start thinking about a elephant and a rabbit. And it just evolves. A trumpeting elephant. King rabbit riding on his back. Ganges River and the Taj Mahal all woven into a magic carpet. So if I see that fella again, I'll be like, yes I have an Elephant.

"Ghost Rider" is an etching by my father, Walter Moskow, from 1991. This un-signed print has a bevel cut antique white mat. "Ghost Rider" will add that decorative western accent to your home or office. 

Walter Moskow, a graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago, has exhibited throughout the United States.  He worked as a commercial artist for over twenty years at the corporate headquarters of Montgomery Wards in the display and advertising department while he and his wife, Loyce, continued their interests in art. 

Also a figurative artist, he developed a drawing and painting talent that evolved into a style of his own through the use of high gloss oil paint, pastels, charcoals, and Conte' crayons.  He took it to another level by creating a number of etchings that paid tribute to a musical and dance legacy of jazz, blues, ballet, and other subjects using light and dark contrasts.

This matted print fits a standard 8x10 frame. The print is sealed in an acetate sleeve. Economically ships in a Priority Mail Envelope.

A woman at the Evanston Art Center asked me create the Tree of Life image. She was saddened by the shooting in Pittsburgh. She needed to heal. At the craft store my wife pointed up at a wreath like object and said, "that's a Tree of Life." The plate came together in that moment. A round plate. The tree reaches for the sky and it's roots. Circle of life. 

The woman from the Art Center said it gave her joy, and made her cry. Circle of life.
